Latinos help PSV to 2-0 victory over FC Twente
In spite of a poor second half PSV recorded their second victory in a row in 2018. Hirving Lozano and Santiago Arias scored a goal either side of the break in the Grolsch Veste in Enschede for the Eredivisie leaders.
Only four minutes were on the clock when Steven Bergwijn floated in an inviting delivery and Hirving Lozano got above his man to power home a header, taking his goal scoring tally for the season to twelve: 0-1.
PSV saw most of the ball and had a good chance to double their lead on 11 minutes, but Luuk de Jong just could not connect with Santiago Arias’ cross. At the other end, Assaidi tried his luck from long range.
Phillip Cocu’s side continued to dominate the first half. Luuk de Jong beat the offside trap but FC Twente keeper Drommel kept his team in the game. Bart Ramselaar failed to control the ball at the end of a counter attack and Drommel saved superbly from Marco van Ginkel’s free kick.
The first chance after the restart fell to the home side. Jensen turned away from his marker but Jeroen Zoet kept out his goal-bound effort and Zoet came again to the rescue, pulling off a fine save to deny Adam Maher.
PSV were stuck in their own half as FC Twente went forward in numbers. Mauro Junior, who had replaced Bart Ramselaar with six minutes remaining, found Arias in the final minute and the Colombian defender made sure of the three points: 0-2.
