Luuk de Jong shines in 4-0 win over PEC
PSV have equalled a club record of 21 consecutive home wins. Luuk de Jong struck a hat-trick to help his team to a 4-0 victory over PEC Zwolle in the Philips Stadion on Saturday night.
PSV were slow to get going but it all changed when PEC Zwolle goalkeeper Mickey Van der Hart made a late challenge outside the box on Lozano on 40 minutes and referee Serdar Gözübüyük had no choice but to brandish a red card.
PSV had had a few chances to open the scoring. Luuk de Jong had a great goal scoring opportunity on 41 minutes but sent his effort straight at Mickey Van der Hart.
Mike Hauptmeijer came off the bench to make his debut for PEC Zwolle between the sticks. Seconds later PSV took the lead when Luuk de Jong rose high to head home a corner at the far post. HT: 1-0.
PSV went in search of a second goal against ten-man PEC Zwolle after the break. Joshua Brenet sent in a cross from the left forcing Hauptmeijer into a fingertip save. Luuk de Jong evaded his marker Sandler but could not steer his finish.
Luuk de Jong gave his side a two-goal advantage on 65 minutes, heading home Lozano’s perfect cross: 2-0.
Luuk de Jong completed his hat-trick on 71 minutes, smashing home Brenet’s cross, before Joshua Brenet himself capped a great display with a peach of a goal: 4-0.
