PSV earn hard-fought 2-0 win at NAC Breda
PSV maintained their 100% start to the season with a hard-fought 2-0 away victory against NAC Breda in the Rat Verlegh Stadion on Saturday evening.
While the home fans were in good voice, PSV were impressed by NAC Breda’s physical approach of the game and continued to play at a slow tempo for the first 45 minutes.
PSV tried to break open the deep, compact defensive line but they never got into their rhythm and failed to create any meaningful chances; HT: 0-0.
The deadlock was broken two minutes into the second half. Angeliño delivered a pinpoint cross from the left and Luuk de Jong slid the ball home at the far post, taking his goal scoring tally for the season to five: 0-1.
The host appealed for a penalty when Nick Viergever seemed to have handled the ball but were not awarded a spot-kick by referee Dennis Higler nor via VAR. NAC Breda threw men forward in search of an equaliser and Jeroen Zoet made some saves to deny them.
PSV doubled their lead in the final minute. Steven Bergwijn wiggled his way through in mesmerising fashion before he found substitute Donyell Malen, who tapped home from close range. FT: 0-2.
